There are a lot of power banks on the market these days, and as we use our smartphones for more and more power draining tasks, demand Is finally catching up with supply.

I picked this one up recently from a shop called MenKind which has grown in popularity over the last couple of years, opening up more and more stores around the country.

I picked it up from inside the store and it was reduced from £12.99 to £7.99. A very fair price for something so useful, but it is now listed on the site for its original price. for this price range there are more functional, higher capacity power banks available. However, this does have a couple of tricks up it's sleeve that does make it worthy of your cash.

The battery capacity is 2000mAh. Which isn't great but for emergency situations is plenty for most people. The iPhone 6s is ranked 1715mAh so you will get a full charge and then some. Samsung's Galaxy S6 is 2550 so you will only get about 75% from a flat battery but that should be enough to get you through until you can find a power source. Ultimately, that is what power banks like this one are designed for. If you're planning a camping weekend then there are bulkier, larger capacity devices you should consider instead.

As this one only has a small capacity, It is ideal for portability. My first weekend with this I took on a night out in my inside suite jacket pocket. It's light enough for me to forget it's even there and I can rest knowing I won't be caught short and be unable to get someone's number or snap a memorable picture.

It is unfortunate that there isn't an indicator for the remaining power but used properly, it will either be full...or empty. Save it until you need it.

The only light on this deice is a red LED for when you are charging the power bank, and a blue LED for when you are using it to charge you're phone.

To use most power banks on the fly, you will need to carry a USB/Lightning cable (depending on the device you're using) with you to connect your phone. One of my favourite things about this one is that the short, 1 inch cable comes connected so you can keep your pocket or bag free of cumbersome wires. The wire that comes with the Credit Card Power Bank is a micro USB but fear not iPhone lovers...there is a tiny adaptor tucked away under the cable to convert the micro USB to lightning.

As I use both an iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6 Edge as my daily drivers this an incredibly useful feature.

It's hidden away securely so you don't have to worry about losing it.

All in all, its a small, portable, adaptive device that can prove incredibly useful in times of need. If you can find it anywhere for the offer price get 2! If you can only find it for £12.99 then don't panic. I would still recommend it. It isn't the highest capacity (and there's no torch like some others come with...yawn) but it can't be knocked for the price. You will probably save an extra couple of pounds by not having to replace lost cables anyway.
