Apple Have No Balls

My biggest concern following Apples event on September 12th...They have become the Ken doll of the Tech industry.

In case you missed it, it was on this day that Apple unveiled three new mobile devices; iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. Thats 10 by the way. Not the letter X. Which in itself is a bizarre decision. I get that it is a celebration for 10 years of the iPhone, but why not use a number like you do on all your devices? Where did the Roman numerals come from? Don’t let that distract you from the poorly named 8 and 8 plus. Did i miss the 7s/7s Plus? Jobs only know why they suddenly abandoned the linear number system. I could understand that if there was a great leap forward in function or a whole new redesign but from the videos and pictures i have seen following the event, It looks a lot like a 7 with a glass back.
Maybe the odd decision making regarding the names of the phone is purely there to distract you from other cowardly decisions made by the tech giants.
Mainly, that third device, the iPhone X. Apple said that this device was the future of the iPhone. In a way they are right. Already. Never before have I seen a tech company make its own product obsolete moments after announcing. They announced the iPhone 8/8 Plus, a small upgrade from it’s 1 year old iPhone 7, and then anointed a device that is
completely different in many ways. A new type of screen, dual OIS on the back, new front facing sensors, “Face ID”, the list goes on.
People aren’t stupid. They know that there is little point going for the 8. For the first time in memorable history, the iPhone still hasn’t sold out of preorders for the 8 and 8 plus. Usually just hours after preorders are available, the date for delivery and collection changes as pre order stock flies out. It is now 2 days since preorders went live and there is still no waiting time to get one. You will get one on the day of release.

Could 2017 be the first time people aren’t camping overnight?
Apple aren’t stupid either, not completely. They chose to release the iPhone 10 six weeks after the 8 is available. The only reason behind this is surely to give those people who cant wait for the latest device a chance to buy the iPhone 8. they are literally cheating people out of their money. They are admitting themselves, if the 8 was released at the same time as the 10, with a similar price tag, the 8 would gather dust in a store room.
The lack of balls? Holding on to the past.
Forget for a moment that the phone historically changes how it looks every 2 years (with exception of the 6/6s/7...,maybe the 8) It has always looked just like an iPhone. The fingerprint sensor/home button hasn’t moved in 10 years. Camera in the top left. Pick up any mobile phone made by Apple over the last 10 years and any fool could tel who manufactured it.
Look at other companies, HTC U11 looks nothing like the Desire from ten years ago. Samsungs Galaxy range has seeen many overhauls. LG have moved things around a lot when it comes to placement and design. Any other manufacturer makes a bold decision and stick to it. If you don’t like that Samsung slashes the home button and moved the fingerprint sensor to the back, buy something else. If you don’t like HTC’s downgrade to one camera on the back, go elsewhere. Missing LG’s secondary display? tough!

Apple have played it safe by giving you an option. Sort of. Yes, you will miss out on some key features like OIS on the second rear camera, the lack of face scanning means no Animojis.........or Face ID. But are those features important? Probably not. It also gives Apple the freedom to go back to using fingerprints to unlock your device on the next iteration of the iPhone.
Only time will tell which way they go...
