7 Day Battery Life

The Future Is Almost Here
UK based development company, Intelligent Energy Holdings, recently announced that they have recieved in excess of $7 million (approximately £4.8 million) from an emerging "smartphone developer" to develop a battery small enough for a phone using Fuel Cell Technology.
The new technology would mean that a single charge on your handset could last up to 7 days.
Before you get too carried away and throw out your spare cables and external batteries, a spokesperson from Intelligent Energy Holdings has said that they imagine that the technology will first be available two years from now. It feels like a lifetime away. In real terms, that means, if you have just upgraded or are about to upgrade in the coming weeks, the next time you change your phone you might have the option of going for something with incredible stamina.
Let's Get Real
Not to burst anybodies bubble, but there are manufacturers at the moment claiming that their handset will last 'all day' or even going so far as to boast a 2 day battery life. It never quite works out that way though. A 'full day battery' might just stretch to 12-14 hours or so with moderate use and 48 hour battery, a bit over a day and half.
Following that trend, we wouldn't be dissapointed with a battery that lasted us 4 or 5 days on a single charge.
Living The Dream
Imagine, being able to go for a weekend away and not having to worry about whether or not you packed your charger. Camping trips will never be the same again. Spontaneity would enter our lives again as we do more of what we love without having to think about our phone seeing us through.
Yes, we would more than likely charge our device every night when we go to bed because it's a habbit we have developed over recent years, but if we forget or something goes wrong, (who hasn't plugged their phone in at night only to wake up the next day and realise the plug wasn't turned on) we can carry on with our day without stressing about how much charge we can get before we dash out the door at the last minute. Getting home from work and getting ready to go on a night out, wouldn't require plugging in to make sure you get all the drunken selfies you want.
Yes, a seven day battery on a phone is a game changer, but it's almost definitely overkill. And given the current state of battery life, there's a strong possibility 7 days could be a little over ambitious. That's if it doesn't turn out to be a publicity stunt... Only time will tell.
