Unless you have just woken up from a 2 year long coma, you will probably be aware of a thing called Android Pay. If you are, then you may also be aware that it has been in use stateside of the pond since September last year but, In the UK, there has never been an official release date for it.

Last night, Android's official Twitter account sent the internet in to meltdown when it announced that Android Pay was available for download in the UK.

Tech websites from around the world raced to get the news out there of it's release only to look stupid as thousands took to Twitter complaining that the app was showing as unavailable in the UK.

Less than an hour after it's announcement, Android removed it's previous Tweet and instead, posted about how excited they are and but Android Pay isn't quite ready for the UK.

Embarrassingly, Android left a lot of it's UK users frustrated by the, seemingly accidental, premature announcement of Android Pay.

However, after spending the entire night searching again and again on the Play Store, Android Pay is finally here! Despite there not being a single tweet from the official account. We have it on our phone now so trust us, It is finally available less than 12 hours before Google IO 2016.

Which leaves us wondering, did google plan to release it before IO? Where they planning to release it at the keynote? Did they feel bad for the people they let down and so just release it anyway? I guess we will never know. But finally, Android fans can join the apple masses in paying with their phones for their favourite fast food in the UK.
